Glossary > Top down analysis
The principle of the (deterministic) top down analysis is, to start the analysis of a text with the most general rule - the start rule (top) - and to test, which sub-rule (down) will match the next section of text, and so on. In contrast to this method, the bottom up analysis begins with the text and looks for a matching rule. |
